Training and ExperienceI am a licensed clinical psychologist with a doctorate (Ph.D.) in psychology. As a clinical psychologist, I have completed the highest level of training and education among mental health professionals (generally 6 years of graduate school).
My specialization in clinical psychology has taken me to the University of Minnesota for my graduate program, and to the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, WA, for pre- and post-doctoral training and where I was later a faculty member in the Department of Psychiatry. I have specialized training which includes experience at an anxiety disorder clinic providing treatment for specific anxiety disorders such as OCD, social anxiety disorder, hair-pulling, panic disorder and agoraphobia. I also have a special interest in the mind-body connection and have been a cognitive behavioral therapist for the University of Washington in a pain clinic and chronic fatigue clinic. I have provided DBT within a DBT Clinic for seven years, and was the clinical director for the UW women’s substance abuse and mental illness DBT program. My experience also includes consulting for the Juvenile Justice system in Washington state as they integrated DBT into their programming for adolescents and their families. I am originally from the Midwest and my husband and I moved back ‘home’ to Cincinnati twenty years ago after having our first child. My husband and I have been married for 20+ years and have three children, each two years apart. Being a parent to three has informed my clinical work as well! I am glad to say that I have experienced both staying at home as well as the juggling act of being a working mother and can provide informed advice from both perspectives.
