Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in Adults and Teens; Evaluation and Treatment
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is often thought of as a disorder of childhood. However, growing attention has been placed on adult ADHD, and some individuals with ADHD are not identified until teenage years. I specialize in the assessment and treatment of teens and adults who experience inattention, impulsivity or hyperactivity.
ADHD assessments usually involve three to four appointments: a diagnostic interview with you, a diagnostic interview with someone who knows you well, such as a spouse or a parent, and a feedback session. ADHD questionnaires will also be administered. As a clinical psychologist, I will conduct a thorough evaluation, write a report, and provide you with feedback of your assessment directly. I will then forward the report to your physician or school, on your request. I also provide Cognitive Behavior Therapy for ADHD if desired. Generally, this involves brief CBT that is psychoeducational. I will help you learn coping skills to help you become more efficient, better organized, and to decrease the impact of ADHD on your daily life. Other specialty areas include:
